"My 5th grade son, Michael, had a wonderful time at SingFest. He went to the four rehearsals with great enthusiasm, and was thrilled to get the opportunity to perform at Benaroya Hall (how many other 11 year olds get that chance?!) It was astonishing to hear how well the SingFest choir sang after just those four rehearsals, and inspirational to hear the skills of the other Columbia Choir groups." ".....as the mom of three boys I'd like to quote.....inspirational words: "I want to live in a world where men sing!"

"I would like to tell you that this was one of the best experiences my daughter Betsy had.  She is still talking about it and thinking about joining Columbia Choirs in the fall.  I have taught music on the church level for many years.....(being in SingFest)was wonderful, exceptional, and way more than we could have imagined.

The teaching was very professional, yet fun, and the experience of singing at Benaroya Hall was awesome. Thank you and Columbia Choirs for allowing Betsy to be a part of this wonderful experience.  I know this is something she and I will both remember for a lifetime."

Columbia Choirs Singing Festivals

Each school year Columbia Choirs provides a short-term singing opportunity called "SingFest".  Children who are recommended by their music teachers to represent their schools form the SingFest Honor Choir.  This honor choir rehearses at least four times; preparing to perform on one of Columbia Choirs' concerts.  It is like a brief "test drive" of what Columbia Choirs has to offer.  This experience is limited to fourth through eighth graders.  Parents are welcome to attend any and all of the SingFest Honor Choir rehearsals. Each school year we will post the dates on this page.

These festivals are for boys and girls, dedicated singers, in third through seventh grades who are between nine and thirteen years old. Boys must have unchanged voices. Students attend fast paced, positive and challenging rehearsals at the Columbia Choirs rehearsal locations. Entry into the choir is gained by either recommendation of a professional music educator, choir director or by auditioning for a member of the Columbia Choirs' staff.

Participation is on a first come, first served basis. In exciting, fast-paced rehearsals the children will focus on:

1.  Introduction to the solfege method of reading music
2.  Singing instruction and vocal artistry
3.  Learning songs and presentation techniques
4.  Preparation for the culminating performance.

Children from elementary, middle and junior high schools in the region are invited to apply for participation in this wonderful time of music-making in with the internationally recognized and award-winning Columbia Choirs!
